MAY 4, 2004: MILLING AND PAVING BEGINS AT I-87 INTERCHANGE 8 The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that paving is underway on I-87 southbound, between Taxter Road and the Saw Mill River Parkway at the site of the Interchange 8 Reconstruction Project. Operations are scheduled to continue in this area with two lanes closed to through traffic until this afternoon's rush hour. All lanes should be restored southbound as of 5:00pm. Milling is scheduled to begin this evening on I-87 north, between Taxter Road and the on-ramp from the Saw Mill River Parkway. One lane will close to traffic at 5:00pm, and an additional lane will close at 7:00pm, to facilitate milling operations overnight in this area. Paving will continue here Wednesday. Motorists traveling through this area can expect periodic delays and are advised to proceed with caution and obey work zone speed limits posted in these construction areas. Additional updates will follow as work progresses.
