McKinney Transportation Center, Stamford's downtown railroad station and the busiest Connecticut station served by Amtrak and Metro-North Railroad. |

TWO
CENTER PLATFORMS Two center platforms will be added, giving the station a total of four platforms. This will allow as many as four trains to be in the station at a time for boarding and disembarkation. The additional platforms will also make most transfers between trains faster and easier - usually by eliminating the need to cross over to another platform. |

OVERHEAD
CATENARY WIRE SYSTEM A two-and-a-half-mile section of the overhead catenary wire system that delivers electricity to power trains will be replaced. Modernizing this section of catenary which is nearly a century old, will make the overall system more efficient and effective. |

WASHINGTON
BLVD. RAILROAD BRIDGE The railroad bridge over Washington Blvd will be reconstructed and the roadway under the bridge will be widened and lowered. This will provide more turning lanes to keep traffic moving and it will accommodate the taller commercial vehicles that are critical to the area's economy. |

ACCESSIBILITY FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES Important new amenities will be added to the station, making it fully accessible to people with disabilities. The list includes tactile warning strips along the edges of platforms, new signs, more and better lighting, reconfigured canopies and upgraded rest rooms and waiting areas. |

RAIL TRAIL The Stamford Rail Trail of pedestrian walkways between the station and nearby areas will be improved, making it easier for more people to take advantage of the station. |
