Stamford, CT— Connecticut Department of Transportation officials have announced that there may be closures of one southbound lane and/or northbound lane of traffic on Washington Boulevard, between South State Street and Station Place, where it passes under the Metro-North Railroad tracks, beginning on Monday, June 16 through Friday, June 27, 2003.

Work will take place between the hours of 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM and 6:00 AM daily. These closures are necessary in order for the bridge steel to be cleaned for painting.

The pedestrian walkway on Washington Boulevard will be open during this work. Pedestrians will also be able to cross the railroad using the train station concourse or Atlantic Street to the east of the station.

Traffic control personnel will be directing traffic and pedestrians during the construction operations. Access to Metro Center, and the Metro Center and Train Station parking garages will be available from Washington Boulevard and from Atlantic Street.
