Closure Scheduled For The Entrance Ramp To I-95 Southbound

Connecticut- Connecticut Department of Transportation officials
have announced that the ramp to I-95 southbound from East Main
Street will be temporarily closed beginning on or about December
5, 2002, through Wednesday, January 15, 2003, as progress continues
on the I-95 Bridgeport Rehabilitation Program.
The closure is necessary as crews enter into the next phase of construction
of the Bridgeport Harbor Bridge, which will be completed on January 29, 2003.
Accordingly, the southbound lanes on I-95 will be relocated to the center of
the roadway section at this time. The five-week closure of the East Main Street
ramp is required to facilitate the above noted traffic switch.
During
the closure period, motorists are advised to follow the posted
detour to the Seaview Avenue entrance ramp at Interchange 29. After
January 15, 2003, a new temporary ramp from Waterview Avenue will
be opened. The detour route to access I-95 southbound will be revised
at this time.
In
addition, there will be intermittent closures of the following
ramps during the course of this closure. These closures are scheduled
for December 5, 2002. In case of inclement weather conditions,
the closures will be re-scheduled for Friday, December 6, 2002
or Monday, December 9, 2002.
I-95 southbound Exit 27, Lafayette Boulevard, and Exit 27A, Route 8& 25
northbound, will be closed to traffic beginning at 1:30 am until 6:00 am, Friday,
December 6, 2002. This closure is to construct the new alignment from I-95
southbound. Motorists are asked to follow the posted detour to Exit 26 (Wordin
Avenue).
Detour
for Exit 27A, Route 8&25, northbound:
Follow
posted detour to Exit 26 (Wordin Avenue). At the end of the ramp,
left turn onto Wordin Avenue and proceed under I-95. First left
for the entrance to I-95 northbound. Proceed to Exit 27A.
Detour
for Exit 27, Lafayette Boulevard:
Follow
posted detour to Exit 26 Wordin Avenue. Follow directions above.
Once on I-95 northbound, take Exit 27, Lafayette Street. Proceed
to second traffic signal to Lafayette Street/Boulevard.
