Smart Guide to Transportation in Dutchess and Ulster Counties Now Available!

The 1999 Smart Guide to Transportation in Dutchess and Ulster, a complete resource for transportation information in the two counties, is now available FREE by calling MetroPool at 1-800-FIND-RIDE. The Guide, published by the New York State Department of Transportation, Poughkeepsie-Dutchess County Transportation Council (PDCTC) and MetroPool, includes maps, route information, parking and fare information, phone numbers -- everything you need to take that first step to a better commute by public transportation.

The full color, pull-out map section includes all transit routes serving both counties, including inter-city and inter-county service. In addition, the Guide features an overview of carpool and vanpool services (including a complete list of park and ride lots in the two counties), paratransit/disabled services, and more.

More than 100,000 copies of the Guide will be distributed with the January 10, 1999 editions of the Poughkeepsie Journal and Kingston Daily Freeman Newspapers and the January 7, 1999 edition of the Taconic weekly newspapers.

Employers are encouraged to distribute copies of the Guide at their work sites; call MetroPool at 1-800-FIND-RIDE to order FREE copies for employees. This Transportation Guide was funded by the New York State Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration in cooperation with the Counties of Dutchess and Ulster.

The Guide is part of a broad campaign undertaken by the public and private sectors to reduce congestion and improve air quality by encouraging travelers to use buses, trains, carpools and vanpools instead
