The City of Stamford is making changes in traffic flow on several streets near the Stewart B. McKinney Transportation Center, Stamford’s downtown train station. The changes, summarized inside this pamphlet, are designed to ease travel in the vicinity of the station during a multiyear construction program that will make the station a model transportation center for the 21st Century.

The Stamford Train Station Enhancement Program represents a $95 million investment by the Connecticut Department of Transportation, the U.S. Department of Transportation, Amtrak and the City of Stamford. The program will make the station more efficient for train riders and for Metro-North Railroad and Amtrak, reducing travel times for some trains.

In addition to the traffic pattern changes summarized here, the program will require changes in pedestrian routes in and around the station and in train platform assignments. These will be posted and announced at the station. Please follow posted pedestrian routes, which are designed to protect workers and the public during construction. And please arrive several minutes prior to your train’s scheduled departure to allow time to follow the directions to your train.
