MetroPool Elects Board Members at Annual Meeting
Stamford, CT—MetroPool, Inc.—the area’s leading commuting solutions company – announced that Howland Blackiston, a resident of Weston, CT and Betsy Thornquist, a resident of Bethany, CT were elected to its Board of Directors at its June 18th annual meeting.
           Mr. Blackiston is principal of King-Casey, one of the premiere retail consulting and design firms in the U.S., where he is responsible for marketing and project management. Previously, he served for 20 years as co-founder, president and chief creative officer for the Juran Institute, Inc.—pioneers in continuous quality improvement.
           With more than 25 years experience in TV production, he also served as the on-air host of a USA Cable Network business news program.
           Mr. Blackiston is a director of the Westport School of Music and vice chairman of the Board of Advisors for Fairfield University School of Music.
           He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Roanoke College; and also attended the Parsons School of Design, the New York School of Visual Arts and the National Academy of Art.
           Ms. Thornquist is chief information officer for the St. Vincent's Health System in Bridgeport, CT In addition to managing St. Vincent's relationship with Ascension Health Information Services, she is responsible for health information management, telecommunications and library services at the medical center.     Â
           She comes to St. Vincent's after serving 10 years with Yale New Haven Health System as director of health system applications and support. Before joining Yale, she held a position in software development at Shared Medical Services/Siemens, and was previously a manager at IBM Credit Corp.Â
           Ms. Thornquist holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College and a Masters in quantitative systems from Arizona State University. She has participated in multiple statewide committees regarding healthcare issues and is a member of the Healthcare Information Management Systems Society and eHealth Connecticut. She and her family reside in Bethany, CT.
           MetroPool also re-elected the following officers: Paul Scribano, vice president finance and administration, Comprehensive NeuroScience, as chair; Allan Page, principal, A. Page & Associates LLC–an energy consultancy, as vice chair; John Lyons, MetroPool President & CEO; Diane Fox, Town of Greenwich/town planner and member of the Southwest Regional Planning Agency, as secretary; Michael Leahy, senior director, business analysis for Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. as treasurer; and Marc Pearlin, vice president, general counsel & corporate secretary, TAL International Group, Inc. as past chair.
           Members of the Board of Directors re-elected to a three-year term include: Bernice Giamundo, manger of facilities and finance, PepsiCo, Inc.; Ed Houghton, director, workforce effectiveness, Pitney Bowes, Inc.; Pat Lioi, logistics head, regional centre-Americas, Swiss Re America Holding Corporation; Allan Page, principal, Allan Page & Associates LLC; Marc Pearlin, vice president, general counsel & corporate secretary, TAL International Group, Inc., and Paul Timpanelli, president and CEO, Bridgeport Regional Business Council.
           Awards presentations were also held for Hudson Valley employers that participated in MetroPool’s Earth Day Race to the Finish Challenge; and for Clean Air New York Champions. Dr. Marsha Gordon, president & CEO of The Business Council of Westchester presented awards. Frank Mongioi, Jr. senior associate of ICF International represented Clean Air New York.
