Westchester County Commuters Win NFL Playoff Tickets

White Plains, NY—January 9, 2006— Two employees who share rides on their commute to Westchester County are winners of tickets to National Football League playoff games. The raffle was sponsored by NuRide, an online ridesharing service administered by MetroPool. Roland Kennelly, who works for Westchester County government was the recipient of New England Patriot playoff tickets in Foxboro, Massachusetts. David Swerdloff from a major financial services firm was the recipient of the New York Giant playoff tickets at Giants Stadium.

The NFL playoff tickets, a hot commodity, received an overwhelming response from the NuRide community, which earns “frequent-rider” miles that could be used to enter the contest. Many ridesharers in the Lower Hudson Valley rushed to participate as the raffle deadline approached on January 5.

Roland Kennelly, who commutes with three other Westchester County government employees, loves the NuRide program not only because of the raffle, but also because he can win other rewards.

“I have an i-Pod, the i-Tunes rewards come in handy,” said Roland Kennelly.

“As soon as I received an email regarding the play off tickets, I entered at least five times,” said Roland.

David Swerdloff, who commutes to Westchester County from Rockland County, wasn’t in the audience when MetroPool presented the NuRide program, but as soon as a coworker mentioned it, he was sold on it.

“After hearing about NuRide I now share a ride with a neighbor, who lives in the same courtyard. The program is awesome!” David said.

John J Lyons, president and chief executive officer, MetroPool, said “MetroPool is always looking to offer options to reduce the use of single-occupant vehicles and help ease commuting. NuRide changes the way people think about ridesharing. The scheduling flexibility and incentives are what make NuRide a great program.”
