Memorial
Day Holiday Period
May 28 - June 1
In
general, on major expressways, any operation that is considered to be an interference
with normal traffic movements will not be permitted from
6:00AM on May 28 through 8:00PM on June 1.
Maintenance work will not be scheduled; only work of an emergency nature will
be considered.
ONGOING
PROJECTS & SITUATIONAL NOTES
- CONNECTICUT -
Bridgeport:
Local road closures, in association with the I-95 Bridgeport Corridor
Reconstruction Project June 1st to 4th:
- Broad St. and Main St., between North & South Frontage Rds., alternating
closures, 7:00am to 4:00pm (7:00pm to 4:00am, Broad St. closed)
Bridgeport: I-95 northbound, Exits 23 to 30, bridge
maintenance project involves various lane closures through
June 10th. Work takes place, Monday through Thursday evenings, 9:00pm
to 5:00am each night, weather permitting.
Bridgeport:
I-95 Bridgeport Corridor Reconstruction Project -
the following closures will remain in place indefinitely, while
the highway is being repaired:
- Northbound Exit 25 on-ramp
- Southbound Exit 26 on-ramp
- Howard Avenue, between Cherry and Pine Streets
**The 45-mph posted speed limit through the Bridgeport construction area, from
Exits 24 to 30, will be strictly enforced.
Greenwich:
Road work on Arch Street, between Railroad Ave. and Horseneck
Lane, is scheduled through end of July, for utility installations,
in association with the Arch Street Construction Project. Digging in various
portions of the roadway Monday through Friday nights, 8:00pm to 6:00am each
day. Anticipate alternating one-way traffic patterns; traffic control personnel
will be in place to assist during this time.
Watertown:
Route 8 northbound, between Exit 37 off-ramp and on-ramp, is restricted
to one lane for bridge rehabilitation. Work will take place, weather permitting,
and is expected to be completed September 2004. Special note:
oversize and overweight vehicles will be required to detour off Rt. 8 NB at
Exit 37, Rt. 262. Follow Frost Bridge Rd. to access Rt. 8 NB entrance ramp.
New
Milford: portion of Route 7, between Dodd Rd. and Picket
District Rd., will be temporarily realigned. Traffic is being laterally shifted
to the west, which will allow permanent northbound Route 7 reconstruction. Two
11 ft. lanes and all residential/commercial driveways will be maintained during
construction.
Stamford:
The existing Stamford Transportation Center Parking Garage
reopened on March 1st. Parking spaces are available. For information about obtaining

Greenwich:
Greenwich Railroad Station -
Track 3: construction through August 2004. Access to trains
via eight bridge plates located on the west end of the platform footbridge.
The stairs coming up from Steamboat Rd. are closed until further notice.
Track 4: construction through July 2004. The platform is closed
from the Pedestrian Bridge Overpass eastward. A temporary platform is open.
Branford/Guilford/Clinton:
Work on several Shore Line East Stations is scheduled
to begin May 24th. No service interruptions are anticipated

Elmsford:
For the week of May 24th, paving operations will continue
to wind down, as the fourth lane is scheduled to open on I-87 NB, between the
Broadway Bridge and the Tappan Zee approach, prior to the Memorial Day weekend.
Holiday restrictions will in effect from noon, May 27th through 10:00am, June
