Route 53 northbound, Main St., 1000 feet north of Franklin Street,
various lanes closed, 9:00am to 4:00pm, permit job (gas service installation).
Danbury:
Route 37 southbound, Pembroke Rd., between Stacey Rd. and Padanaram
Rd., various lanes closed, 9:00am to 4:00pm, permit job (water main installation).
Waterbury:
Route I-84
westbound, Exit 19, left lane closed, 9:00am to 3:00pm.
Waterbury:
Route 8 northbound, Exit 35, left lane closed, 9:00am to 3:00pm (tree
work).
Waterbury:
Route 847 northbound and southbound, South Main St., intersection of
Washington Ave., alternating lanes closed, 8:30am to 3:30pm, repair water leak.
ONGOING
PROJECTS & SITUATIONAL NOTES
- CONNECTICUT -
Stamford:
I-95 northbound and southbound, Exits 7 & 8, traffic switch will
take place the week of July 19th to July
23rd, at night. Northbound motorists will be shifted onto the new section
of the highway (south side). Motorists traveling southbound will shift to the
median section. This will result in a different exit pattern for motorists who
wish to get off I-95 at Exit 7 southbound. The exit
will be maintained at all times; proceed with caution. Work will take place,
weather permitting.
Bridgeport:
I-95 northbound, Exits 25 & 25, traffic switch onto the newly constructed
roadway is scheduled to take place July 21st, at night, weather
permitting (rain date is July 22nd). Proceed with caution and please obey the
posted 45-mph speed limit through the corridor (Exits 24 to 30, northbound and
southbound).
Stratford/Shelton:
Route 110 (River Rd.) milling and resurfacing project, from just north
of Route 15 to just north of Petremont Lane. Milling portion scheduled to begin
on or about July 22nd through July
29th. Resurfacing scheduled to begin on or about
August 1st through August 10th. Regular work schedule for the milling portion
is Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:00pm. Regular work schedule for the resurfacing
is Sunday through Thursday, 8:00pm to 5:00am. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained
during the peak commute hours. Work will take place, weather permitting.
Westport/Wilton:
Route 33 (Wilton Rd./Westport Rd.) milling and resurfacing project,
on a two mile section of Rt. 33 from just south of Merritt Lane to the Rt. 7
overlap. Milling portion scheduled to begin on or about July 23rd and
July 26th. Resurfacing is scheduled to begin on or about August 4th
through 12th. Regular work schedule for the project is Monday through Friday,
7:00am to 4:00pm. Work will take place, weather permitting.
Darien:
I-95 northbound and southbound, Exits 10 to 13, alternating
lane closures are scheduled to take place Mondays through Thursdays, at night,
beginning July 12th and will continue for a few
months, for paving.
Newtown/Waterbury:
I-84 eastbound and westbound, Exits 9 to 21, a bridge maintenance project
is scheduled to begin on or about Tuesday night, July 6th
through August 27th. Work will take place
Monday through Thursday nights, from 9:00pm to 5:00am each night, weather permitting.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists
through the work zone.
Waterbury:
I-84 eastbound and westbound, Exits 18 to 23,
a bridge maintenance project began Wednesday night, June 23rd,
and will continue each succeeding Wednesday night through August 25th.
Work will take place from 9:00pm to 5:00am each Wednesday night, weather permitting.
Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be utilized to guide motorists
through the work zone.
Fairfield/Westport:
Post Road, between Kings Lane in Fairfield and Cedar Road in
Westport, a milling and resurfacing project. Milling portion is complete. Resurfacing
begins July 13th until the morning
of July 22nd, from 8:00pm to 5:00am each night,
not including Saturday or Sunday. Work will take place, weather permitting.
Bridgeport:
Local road closures, in association with I-95
Bridgeport Corridor Reconstruction Project, July 19th
to July 21st:
- Main Street, between North & South Frontage Roads and
Water St. at Main St., alternating closures from 7:00am to 4:00pm
July 22nd
and 23rd:
- North Frontage Rd. will be closed at Water St.; Water St. at Main St. will
become a two way street to accommodate detouring traffic from North Frontage
Rd. City police officers will be stationed at all necessary intersections of
the detour. Purpose of this work is to facilitate the installation of structural
steel for the bridge carrying I-95 over Bridgeport Harbor.
Bridgeport: I-95 Bridgeport Corridor Reconstruction
Project closures:
- Northbound Exit 25 on-ramp
- Southbound Exit 26 on-ramp
- Howard Avenue, between Cherry and Pine Streets
**The 45-mph posted speed limit through the Bridgeport construction area, from
Exits 24 to 30, will be strictly enforced.
Greenwich:
Route 15 northbound and southbound, between Exits 29 to 31,
will have daily lane closures now through the end of the construction season.
One northbound lane will be closed from 9:00am to 3:00pm; southbound closure
will be from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
Greenwich:
Road work on Arch Street, between Railroad Ave. and Horseneck
Lane, is scheduled through end of July, for utility installations,
in association with the Arch Street Construction Project. Digging in various
portions of the roadway Monday through Friday nights, 8:00pm to 6:00am each
day. Anticipate alternating one-way traffic patterns; traffic control personnel
will be in place to assist during this time.
Watertown:
Route 8 northbound, between Exit 37 off-ramp and on-ramp, is restricted
to one lane for bridge rehabilitation. Work will take place, weather permitting,
and is expected to be completed September 2004. Special note:
oversize and overweight vehicles will be required to detour off Rt. 8 NB at
Exit 37, Rt. 262. Follow Frost Bridge Rd. to access Rt. 8 NB entrance ramp.
New
Milford: Sunny Valley Road (south) off Route 7, between Route 7 and
the intersection of Sunny Valley Lane, will be closed to through traffic from
7:00am to 4:30pm, beginning Monday, June 21st, for drainage
installation, in association with the reconstruction of Route 7. Traffic will
be detoured onto Route 7 and/or Sunny Valley Lane. The road will be open to
local and emergency traffic. The work will take place, weather permitting. Construction
is expected to take one month.
New
Milford: portion of Route 7, between Dodd Rd. and Picket
District Rd., will be temporarily realigned. Traffic is being laterally shifted
to the west, which will allow permanent northbound Route 7 reconstruction. Two
11 ft. lanes and all residential/commercial driveways will be maintained during
construction.
Stamford:
The existing Stamford Transportation Center Parking Garage
reopened on March 1st. Parking spaces are available. For information about obtaining

Greenwich:
Greenwich Railroad Station -
Track 3: construction through August 2004. Access to trains
via eight bridge plates located on the west end of the platform footbridge.
The stairs coming up from Steamboat Rd. are closed until further notice.
Track 4: construction through July 2004. The platform is closed
from the Pedestrian Bridge Overpass eastward. A temporary platform is open.
Branford/Guilford/Clinton:
Work on several Shore Line East Stations began at
the end of May, 2004. No service interruptions are anticipated at any of the
