ONGOING
PROJECTS & SITUATIONAL NOTES
- CONNECTICUT -
Bridgeport:
I-95 southbound Exit 26 on-ramp from Wordin Ave. is
scheduled to be closed beginning Monday morning, May
2 at 6:00pm and will reopen Tuesday, May
3, by early evening, in order to reconstruct the base of the
ramp. Traffic will be detoured to the I-95 southbound Exit
25 on-ramp from Commerce Drive.
Milford/Stratford:
Construction activities on the Housatonic River Bridge, between
Milford and Stratford, began on April 11, 2005. The construction
will affect portions of Route 1 at the Milford-Stratford line and will be performed,
weather permitting. Motorists should expect lane closures along Route
1 daily, up to one-half mile on either side of the bridge. Two lanes
of traffic will be maintained Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 9:00am and
3:00pm to 7:00pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am to 7:00pm. No full bridge
closures are anticipated until the Fall. Construction work includes repainting
the bridge, new mechanics needed to open and close the bridge and the installation
of a new fender protection system in the river. The project is expected to be
completed by August 2007.
New
Milford: Reconstruction of Route 7 has resumed for
the construction season. Daytime and nighttime operations can be expected from
Pickett District Rd. to just north of Bridge St. There may be one lane of alternating
traffic at various locations along the roadway from 9:00pm to 6:00am Monday
through Friday and between 8:00pm to 10:00am Saturday and Sunday. The overall
completion of the project is expected by Summer 2006.
Norwalk:
Section of Monroe Street, from the intersection of Monroe and
Chestnut Sts. to Martin Luther King Drive, is now a One-Way
street, through July 31, 2005. Detour signs and alternate route signs have been posted. The roadway will be
lowered under the bridge and new utilities will be installed under the roadway.
The work is part of an ongoing project to replace bridges and catenary on the
New Haven Line between Norwalk and Stamford.
West
Haven: Meloy Road, between Saw Mill Rd. and Claudia Dr. near Exit 42/Route
162 off I-95, is temporarily closed to thru traffic. The closure is expected
