John Lyons is president and CEO of MetroPool, Inc. He provides leadership and management direction, as well as being responsible for carrying out MetroPool's mission and objectives. John reports to the Board and performs in accordance with all contracts, New York and Connecticut work plans, and policies established by the Board of Directors. He is a member of the Executive Committee and serves as primary contact to Board members.
Before joining MetroPool, John spent nine years in Russia and Eastern Europe delivering business consulting services and managing U.S.-funded business development projects in several emerging post-Soviet economies. Prior to working overseas, John was a business owner, teacher and entrepreneur in solar design and energy-conserving residential construction. From alternative energy, to transitioning newly-privatized companies, to getting people to try an alternative commute, John has worked successfully at the public/private interface to change individual and corporate behavior.
John is a resident of Pawling, New York, where his two teenaged children keep things exciting. He was one of the first to go through Williams College’s Center for Environmental Studies in the early ‘70s. John has had the privilege of visiting 32 countries, climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro, crossing the Arctic Circle, hiking the Chilkoot Pass, drinking vodka in Red Square, and swimming in the Piranha River. |
