Greenwich, Conn—As progress continues on the
Arch Street/Greenwich Railroad Bridge and Catenary Improvements
Project, Connecticut Department of Transportation officials have
announced that construction work on the station’s outbound
platform, which services track 4, will begin at 10:00 A.M. on Monday,
July 7, 2003 and is expected to last for a duration of one year.
The outbound track 4 platform will be closed to
passengers from the Pedestrian Bridge Overpass eastward. A new temporary
platform, west of Arch Street Bridge, will be opened for service.
Signs will be posted to direct passengers to points of access to
and from this area. This will change the access routes and boarding
patterns for some commuters, and as a result, additional travel
time should be planned to allow for time to board trains.
This work is being done to hasten the construction
of the stairs, elevators and new overpass structure that will eventually
replace the old bridge now being used. The Department of Transportation
appreciates the patience and understanding of commuters and other
station customers during this project.
