I-84
Southbury Safety & Median
Improvement Project
Construction
work began on March 31, and may include nighttime lane closures
in each direction, on I-84 in Southbury, Newtown and Middlebury.
Work
will be conducted between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM., Monday
through Friday. Work will be conducted each day, weather permitting.
In
addition, possible shoulder closures may occur between the hours
of 7:00 AM and 3:30 PM daily.
O&G
Industries of Torrington, Connecticut has been awarded the $22 million
contract for the project that is expected to be completed in November,
2003, and calls for resurfacing along I-84 as well as bridge and
other safety improvements.
Motorists
are urged to use caution when traveling through this and all construction
zones, and to allow for extra travel time at the times of the aforementioned
daytime and nighttime lane closures. Additionally, the posted speed
limit in the construction zone is 45 mph.
