Route
15 (Merritt Parkway) in Greenwich
Median & Safety Improvement Project
Scheduled
Project Completion: June 2004
Traffic
will be shifted towards the right shoulder on
Route 15 (Merritt Parkway) southbound between the Stamford Town
line and Exit 31 in Greenwich beginning the week of May 5, 2003
for an extended period.
The
traffic shift is being established in conjunction with the current
$19 million project for resurfacing and interchange improvements
on Route 15 in Greenwich which is being performed by L.G. DeFelice,
Inc. of North Haven under a contract with the Connecticut Department
of Transportation.
The
traffic shift will allow for required construction work to proceed
in-line with the fourth stage of the project.
This
two-year $19 million interchange improvement project taking place
in the vicinity of Exit 31 on the Merritt Parkway in Greenwich includes
upgraded new acceleration lanes from the on and off ramps and the
roadway will be resurfaced, along with other planned safety improvements.
Additionally,
the existing landscape is being rehabilitated in accordance with
the "Merritt Parkway Landscape Master Plan."
When
rock blasting is required traffic will be stopped for up to 15 minutes
in both directions for the safety of the motorists. Blasting may
occur from 9:30am to 2:30pm Monday through Thursday.
Please
Note
Many road projects are weather sensitive; lane closures and other
traffic restrictions may be changed or cancelled, without notice,
in the event of inclement weather.
