The 2000 Southern Connecticut Transportation Guide, a complete resource for
transportation information in Fairfield and New Haven Counties, will be
available beginning in November. The Guide, originally published by the
Connecticut Department of Transportation and MetroPool in 1998 and updated
for 2000, includes maps, route information, parking and fare information,
and phone numbers -- everything commuters need to take that first step to a
better trip by public transportation. In addition, the Guide features an
overview of carpool and vanpool services (including a complete list of park
and ride lots in Fairfield and New Haven counties), important highway
construction/improvement information, Access to Jobs initiatives,
paratransit/disabled services, and more.
More than 400,000 copies of the Southern Connecticut Transportation Guide
will be distributed as a newspaper insert in November. An additional
75,000 copies will be distributed through Commuter Information Center
kiosks, employer sites, transit operators, libraries, municipal offices,
Realtors, and other outlets. For copies or for more information, call
MetroPool at 1-800-FIND-RIDE.
The new PART (Putnam Area Rapid Transit) Connections highlights connecting
services that allow easy bus travel between Putnam County and other points
in the region. PART Connections was published by the New York State
Department of Transportation, Putnam County Planning, and MetroPool.
Easy-to-read PART routes and connecting services to Bee-Line in Westchester
County, Dutchess County LOOP Bus system, City of Poughkeepsie Transit
System, HART (Housatonic Area Regional Transit) in Danbury, Connecticut and
MTA Metro-North are shown on a map that fits easily into a suit jacket or
pocketbook. Also listed in the schedule are phone numbers and web site
addresses of the various transit operators and PART fare and paratransit
information. For copies, call MetroPool at 1-800-FIND-RIDE.
