New web site helps Hudson Valley travelers get around

This past summer, the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center unveiled a new website, www.hudsonvalleytraveler.com. Hu dson Valley Traveler provides current traffic conditions with live camera feeds and construction information with a clickable map for the Hudson Valley region. Updates on the progress of the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center (HVTMC) project; summaries about the many different programs and related projects being managed by the HVTMC; and explanations, in user-friendly terms, about the components of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), along with what purpose these types of programs serve, is also included in the large variety of information available at www.hudsonvalleytraveler.com.

There are links provided to many of the agencies and organizations that are participating in the design, development and realization of the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center, as well as commercial information service providers. Additional links are planned for a larger variety of traffic-related information.

The Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center is a partnership between the New York State Department of Transportation and the New York State Police with the active participation of the New York State Thruway Authority and the Westchester County Department of Public Works.

In addition to the coordination and development of Intelligent Transportation System components, the Hudson Valley Transportation Management Center manages the Highway Emergency Local Patrol (H.E.L.P.) Program. The H.E.L.P. Program is the highly successful, federal and state funded service patrol program, which provided free service to disabled motorists during rush hour along 147 miles of highways in Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Putnam Counties.
