Arch Street Construction Project
Estimated Completion Date: January 2005
General Project Information:
- the complete replacement of the existing bridge structures at
Arch Street, Hamilton Avenue and North Water Street in Greenwich
- the replacement of the catenary wire system with a more modernized
version (these wires are used to power the Metro-North Railroad
trains)
- improvements to the Greenwich Railroad station, including the
addition of two new stairways and improvements to the existing stairs;
easier accessibility to the station's ticket booth for customers
with disabilities; extension of the train platforms to accommodate
longer trains; complete removal and replacement of the pedestrian
overpass (construction on the overpass began August 2004 and is
estimated to be completed in November 2004)
