New Shuttle Service Expands Tenant Amenities at Reckson Associates' Stamford Properties

Crowded highways and long commutes make the right location, with the right combination of convenience and amenities more valuable than ever in helping companies attract and keep the best employees. Locations that support alternatives to driving alone make it possible for employees to arrive at work relaxed and focused, rather than stressed and late.

Real Estate Investment Trust Reckson Associates acquires improves and manages business properties. Reckson, whose Connecticut portfolio includes Stamford Towers and Landmark Square, has continued to expand services at its downtown Stamford properties, helping to bring the properties to near capacity. Reckson recently teamed with MetroPool to add transportation services to its roster of tenant amenities, making the properties even more attractive to both tenants and their employees.

More than 125 tenants occupy offices at Reckson's two Stamford complexes, with over 2000 people commuting to work there each day. The buildings feature a variety of services that make it possible to take care of many daily personal and business errands without leaving the properties. Dining, dry cleaning services, a sundry shop and more are among the services offered that add convenience to the business day.

Reckson now also provides a more convenient way for employees working at Stamford Towers and Landmark Square to get to and from the Stamford train station, making it easier to choose public transit for the daily commute. To encourage employees at these active business centers to leave their cars at home, Reckson tapped MetroPool's expertise to implement a shuttle service connecting employees with the Stamford train station morning and evening, making train ridership a more popular option.

"As a property owner, Reckson Associates is very concerned about traffic and congestion," said Pat Mahoney, Vice President of Property Management for Reckson's Connecticut division. "Our new shuttle service provides an incentive to use the train, helping improve mobility in Stamford. It makes public transit a practical and convenient choice for tenant employees, reducing the number of vehicles in and out of our properties each day."

The new service, which launched in January, makes a continuous loop from the Stamford train station to Landmark Square and Stamford Towers during the morning and evening rush hours. The shuttle runs from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., and starts its runs again from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The free shuttle currently transports approximately 50 people each day, and Mr. Mahoney sees ridership increasing as awareness of the new service builds. "MetroPool ran a Transportation Fair on our properties to introduce the new shuttle and to explain other commuter services that are available to our tenants and their employees."

"We continually seek ways to improve the package of conveniences we can offer our tenants," said Mr. Mahoney. "Easing the commute by providing the new shuttle service is another way Reckson supports its tenants in their effort to attract and retain the best employees."

"Mobility is essential to the economic vitality of Connecticut, suburban New York, and the lower Hudson Valley," said John Lyons, President, MetroPool. "Reckson Associates has taken an active position in encouraging tenant employees to take advantage of public transportation, improving the commute and helping ease traffic congestion in the region."

Reckson Associates Realty Corp. is one of the largest publicly traded owners, managers and developers of Class A office and industrial properties in the New York Tri-State area, with 182 properties comprised of approximately 20.6 million square feet either owned and controlled, directly or indirectly, or under contract.

MetroPool works with corporations and property owners throughout Fairfield County and the Hudson Valley region of New York to improve commuter mobility through programs and services that make transit a more popular option for employees. MetroPool's free services, offered with the support of the Connecticut and New York State Departments of Transportation, provide a full range of programs, including site analysis, ridematching services and on-site marketing support.
